Hello everyone...or anyone who might happen to read this. the quilters have not died....we have just taken an extended break from quilting.and with Britt and Joshua being born, some of the quilters have been quite busy. but do not worry, we shall resume quilting at some point....probably in July. i wonder if anyone will notice this post....probably not! haha

Week 11

Hi! This is Danielle and this will probably be the last quilting journal post from my account as Hannah now has her very own camera to create havoc with once again. However, last week Sara and I were ditched by EVERYONE else. Yes, Bob shed many tears over it and needed a small klenex.

Bubba was disappointed too, but was able to console him. Meanwhile, Sara and I were able to get a great deal done and had much intellectual conversation with Sis. Tina.We had a great time together, but it was VERY quite without Rachel or Hannah. Hopefully next week Kelly will be back as well with little Joshua (yeah, I forsee lots of quilting going on then).

Week 10
Hey its Hannah here again, with week 10 of quilting! Sadly not all of the quilters could come today, Kelly of course stayed home with baby Joshua this time, and Rachel was working. So yeah.....nobody got attacked. I know that this probably disapoints alot of people, but hey the only other people were the attackees, so nobody really would of known HOW to attack anyway. Even though Danelle has attempted to....but as you probably know, redheads just dont seem to have that natural attackingable talent.(sorry danielle) anyway, sorry I didnt get more pictures, I get easily distracted sometimes. most of the pictures dont need explaining

Week 7 - 9/25- New Layout!!!!! video too

I'm going to let Hannah have at this like usual, but I thought I would insert a few comments here and there of my own this time in black.
Hey everyone, welcome to the new and improved layout of Sisters-in-Stitches!!!
This is your quilting reporter Hannah A. coming to you as usual (and a little late) sorry about the long wait for new blog pictures...even tho these are from the LAST week we posted (not this week) this weeks picturesd will be up soon. Week 5 - 9/4 Video!!!

So its been a while since there has been a quilting post. Sorry about that! This is about week 5, week 4 will be posted later since I used a differant camera that day. Anyway, this week we sewed alot of peices together. This quilt is getting put together alot faster than our first one! :) Because we are pro, seasoned experts! I actually dont have much explaining to do for these pictures.........

Week 3/ Rachel's attacks

Here we go! week 3! sorry about the long wait. well, this week we did more cutting, and sewed a few pieces together. And, of course, had delicious snacks. Bob and Bubba are proud to present the beginnings of quilt number two!!!!
Last week on thursday, we all went to Danielle's house to pick out a pattern, and start a new quilt!!

(below) this part is probably the hardest part...picking out the
pattern and fabrics... especially since they are so extremely good, they
gotta pick out something for there level of quilting...not any
of that easy stuff......lol

Gary, had told danielle NOT to buy tomatos, because nobody would eat them, can you believe him??? ended up all the tomatos were gone buy the end of the day....

Huckleberry Britt. post 2 of the day

Below is the post about us finishing the quilt!!!!!!! But while we were quilting, we also decided to try and help Danielle decide on a names for the Baby she is going to be having. Since she perferably wants a Bible name, we took out this bible name book. And began the search

Here are some awesome names I found and wrote down....this one I thought was soooo totally awesome, I could not stop saying it to myself. Vajezatha Britt. It is a pleasure to type that name on the keyboard! it is so pretty. I mean, if it was MY child that name would be on top of the list, the one on the bottom of the picture is a real name too. I think its a wonderful name also. even though I cant really pronounce it....Danielle should still consider it. Uriah Britt (just so you know, britt is Gary's middle name, that is going to be the middle name, for real.) It has a good ring to it. And Danielle almost really considered it for a split second!

ALAS! what can I say????? Huckleberry Britt. That is the most awesome name I have ever heard in my whole entire life!!!!!! this is going to really be the child's nickname if its a boy..
I cant say enough about this name! Everytime I say it it brightens my day! And when he has turned eighteen, it can be shortened to Huck. (and danielle could even use this as its real name....but for some reason she is not as enthusiastic about it as me....I mean, berries are in the Bible! so it sooooo totally counts!)
This is a note on the bottom of the page of names to give to Gary. (if you cant read it , let me know....)

WE FINISHED IT!!!! week 12 Video TOO!

Thats right everyone! we finished the quilt!!!!!! We have completed the quilt, and it took only 12 days!!! Thats becuz of all the hard work and determination the quilters have put in it!!! Rachel was not able to attend the last day because of her new job....but her quilting spirit was...lol
All that was left for day 12 was 5 more squares, and the binding. Bob and Bubba are soooo excited that "they completed their quilt" It is so pretty. oh and there was a week 11 I just didnt really get pics on here but alot of the pics on the vid of danielle are from week 11. Im just leaving these pictures in the random order I found them in.....lets now take a look at the wonderful day we had finishing the quilt. 7/11/08

good job sewing on the quilt binding. Sara has done alot of
the sewing throughout this indeavor.

so, we are very sorry that there has been no updates on here for the past 3 weeks......we have not been able to quilt for those weeks, things just kept coming up, and tomorrow we are leaving for our trip to AL. for the singing school!! so you will have to wait yet another week for quilting....Bob and Bubba are almost livid right now....Im not joking, and we are very sad. To make matters worse, I cant put any quilting pictures on this post beuz rach has the pics on her account (which is locked) and she is at the barn. BUT! WE WILL RESUME QUILTING ASAP!!!

WEEK 9

Bubba was distraught, as most of you know, he does like to eat some... and he did not get any pie!!!!! (read below)
Week 9 of sisters in stitches quilting: we once again had quilting at sis. Bonita Varnums house! It went really well, but as we say only an hour is usually spent doing the actual quilting out of the 3 hours we are there, the other 2 are spent doing stuff.... like you see in my pictures :) but, I do get pictures of the actual quilting...and we are almost done! They are still doing the actual stitching-quilting part. and again...aahhhhhhhhh...ALAS! the picture have once again loaded funky. (thats weird using "alas" and "funky" in the same sentance) oh! aaaaand it was Danielle's birthday!!!!! Sis. Kelly made her peanut butter pie, and Sara made her a DR.Pepper cake....and lots of really awesome stuff....and sis. Kelly brought a special hat for her to wear too.

week 8---emotion!!

OK! WEEK 8, usually I explain next to the pictures what they r ect, but they loaded really funky.just a jumble of letters, and it takes a really long time to load them, so I have to do it differantly! (AND WE MAY BE ABLE TO GET THE VIDEOS UP HERE VERY SOOOOON!) this week we did quilting at sis. Bonita Varnums house, she has been wanting us to do it over there, and we wanted to, so.......... we did. :) yep.
This week, for some reason, the quilters were just not putting the kind of energy out that I needed for my pictures, but after I told them, they did a pretty good job putting out more energy/emotion.....
Once again, Danielle attempted to use a weapon on Rachel, lol, but she just cant keep a straight face!!
Sis. Kelly did awesome with emotion shots when she lost her needle on the ground! (after looking around for a while, I was able to locate it)
I really like the one of all four of them....I call it..."Desperation"
Bob, was overwhelmed with "emotion" when his cousin, Bubba showed up! Bubba is all the way from Alabama!!! and is going to be staying with Bob, and coming to quilting! Bob was estatic! They are the best of friends! And in case you did not notice, Bubba is a little redneck.
Another newsflash! Bob has a new face!! is it not the cutest little Tomato face you have ever seen??????
that about wraps it up for week 8!
sorry these are so late! I was super busy this week!
oh! and rachel was bored so she was poking her eye out with the needle....not. at quilting, they call Rachel............special. if you ask them what word describes Rachel, they would say special.

Bob Goes to Alabama

Gary thought that three girls in a car with only Justin wasn't enough supervision. So, I brought along Bob. He always supervises quilting so why not supervise sisters in stiches plus Justin on the way to Alabama. Bob thought it was a great idea, after all the only thing better than good fellowship around a quilt is good preaching and good fellowship. I was tired of driving, so Bob helped out. Someone pointed out to me that Bob doesn't have arms, but I want you to know that doesn't stop him. He doesn't complain, instead he slides from side to side anytime he wants to turn. He uses the weight he gained from eating Rachel and Hannah's cookies last week, to good ends. However, while I was driving, Bob suggested that we sing some church songs. He even picked out one of his favorites and sang the notes with us. Bob was such a hit in Jasper, that they hung a picture of him in Walmart, and that folks is how you know when you are famous.

Bob had a ball and plans to go to singing school with us as well. However, he thinks that more should join us, and we agree. So if you want to have a great time of fellowship while singing praises to our Lord and Savior, not to mention enjoy a week of PB food. Leave us a comment, or email Bob at daniduck44@hotmail.com.

week seven, they did some more quilting today!! we did it at Danielle's again! Abel Chloe and Lydia came along this time while are parents went to run some errands.

hello everyone! What we did this week is told at the bottom of the post, it started out on top, but ended up on the bottom. Kelly was not able to join us this week again, but should be able to come next week, I am pretty sure at least.

WEEK 5 PICS ARE HERE! we had an awesome time this week! we were not able to do quilting the last 2 weeks because things came up. But WE ARE BACK!!!!! IT was a really good day, (not too many complications.........lol) I may be posting more pictures later! Kelly was not able to join us this time though because she was not feeling up to it,because as we all know, she is going to be having a baby! Bob also had a few adventures!

We have week 4 pictures here! We had an awesome week look at the picture on the top/left side of the blog! That is what we accomplished at the end of yesterday. The whole center part/piece. Awesome! We also had a special guest this week, Lisa! Her picture is below, I ment to put hers on top but these pictures did not load like I wanted them too. Anyway, picture # 1, This was not my idea,lol. Someone let Rachel use the sewing machine.......I know what your thinking. WHY. but she actually did pretty good.

um, well I decided to do all the sewing machine pictures first, Danielle's sewing machine was being pretty disobediant.....well, VERY disobediant....so, we decided to call in some help....someone who, can help in times of peril......someone, someone like Bob.

FINALLY! Week Three of Quilting!!

Hannah was not able to attend this weeks quilting extravaganza *snif* so I was the replacement photographer.

We were all very excited about this weeks quilting episode, because so many of us had been sick with some form of virus or another, and it was very saddening having to cancel last time. Since some of my family was still sick at my house, Sister Kelly graciously offered to host it at her house Tuesday!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! She even provided us with Dr. Pepper, Snacks, and music for all to enjoy.

Where we left off last time, we had just started sewing the corner pieces to go on the main squares of our quilt. You should be surprised at how much we accomplished......er...in a way...this week!

Before I begin, you all remember our mascot, "Bob" right? Well, he's still with us , here you see he's enjoying one of many acupuncture treatments. GO BOB!

Here are the three seamstresses ( I offered to do something else and just watch them... my skills on the machine are VERY rusty....it would not be wise to put me in that circle, lol)

During our project, sister Kelly's cats kept a watchfil eye out for anything out of the oridinary, or in their case, a rodent of some sort.

And here we are viewing pictures of THE most dangerous job of all, ironing, which just happened to be given to me.........I found out that if a concentrate really hard ( I hate ironing) I can actually do a decent job and not burn myself. Oh, and you should all know by now that I have a reputation for finding new "weapons" each week which I use on my "victims" a.k.a the other three peeps in our group. ( do not worry, so far it has only been attempts to hurt, no one has been injured yet.....yet....) The new weapon is " THE IRON!" It burns, it melts.....it pretty sweet.

Once we finished sewing and ironing the corner pieces together ( above picture)
Danielle and I started pinning together the whole square which Sara and Kelly then sewed together. They were also seing toegther more of those blue and white fabric peices.

TA-DA~!! Sara is happily displaying our first finished square!!! IS IT NOT THE MOST AMAZING AND EXCITING THING YOU EVER SAW?????????? Not bad for our first time....well at keast for that part.

Alas, our happy little group of four sewing ladies, would no longer be the fairytale we all thought it to be. Nay, great trials and tribulations threatened to end our quilt for all eternity. A certain "someone" ( NOT ME! I PROMISE) accidentally skipped over a part of the quilting instructions and we ended up sewing all the blue triangles to the white rectangles, and we were not suppose to use them all up like that. So below you witness the terrible consequences of that persons mistake.....we ended up spending the rest of our day ripping seams.

oh, by the way, another good weapon is a seam ripper.

But one of the highlights of our visit, was getting to see Tracey and her newborn kittens!!!!! Tracey is the cat that Sister Kelly is fostering until the babies are old enough to be adopted out. We spent about fifteen minutes before and after we quilted watching this momma and her adorable babies. Tracey is doing very well, and she's so happy, and such a good mother. The babies are all healthy as well, and just sooooo cute!!!

So that's week three of quilting, and I hope you viewing enjoyed! Next week we will be doing it again at sister Kelly's house, hopefully there won't be anymore delays because this is just too much fun! And oh the things we talk about.....hee hee

Today's regularly scheduled quilting will be temporarily postponed as sickness (or the plague) is running rampant down hither. Gary and I have been sick, now Abel, Sara, and Bro. Buddy are sick. We will resume at a later date.

It is so much fun to quilt with church friends, its also alot of fun to lock Danielle outside! lol (by the way this was not my idea, none of the schemes are my idea, I am just their very humble photographer)

haha! on the way over to our house, Danielle and Kelly both happened to get Burger king, and both some type of coke drink, and the same size cup! in this picture, Danielle is trying to figure out if the cup she had just taken a sip out of was hers! lol (it was)

*gasp!* look everyone! we have started sewing!
is'nt it great? ooohhhh.........well except for the fact that we did have a
few problems with the sewing machine....correction Danielle's
bobbin.(well, maybe we wont blame Danielle.....lol) yes you see, if you look at the fabric next to the sewing machine closely, you will notice that we did have a few problems there, the thread is not sopose to be like that. But like the saying that Danielle found in our official quilting book: "Perfect quilts like perfect people are boring" so if they do mess up, its almost a GOOD thing!! (don't worry though we fixed the thread.)and Sara graciously decided to do the sewing. ok next picture ..

*NEWS FLASH* look closely everyone! Rachel has a NEW weapon with which to kill Danielle with during quilting! as I said look closely at the end of her pointer finger. yep,it appears to be a plain old pin to a person like me or you, but to Rachel, it is a Mini Spear!!!!

and last but definetly not least, we have a new quilting member! Kelly has joined us!!!

Let me tell you something to understand this picture below.

ever since day one of quilting, we have had a problem with Rachel sharpening the pencil, EVERY single time it would break, and then break again. Rachel saiD sharpening pencils is not her forte.

kelly is tons of help!!! and..........

she can sharpen pencils.

Quilting Day one: the beginning of the Adventure

hey! its Hannah again! (still signed in as Rach)

Its about 2:o5ish and Sara, Rachel, and Danielle decide to start their quilting project. They decided what fabrics they were going to use and were ready to start cutting them, when..............

they find this, Danielle had forgotten to get the rotary mat out of the car earlier when she arrived for the TLC, (around 10:00)
so the rotary mat is now warped.

how are you supose to quilt with a warped rotary mat??
2:08 - after Abel tries laying on it, its still bent badly in the one corner.
2:10-it was suggested to try ironing it.

2:15- We get the ironing board ready and the iron hot.

Our mom (sister Tina) tells Danielle and Sara to make sure you put a towl over it while ironing it.

2:18 have been ironing for a while now, but it does not seem to help much. Then one of these 3 persons has an idea.........since ironing with the towl was not working too well, they decided to try without the towl real quick.
and.........yeah, it started melting in a spot.

we were all reminded of some sermons we have been hearing recently "Let the older women teach the younger women."

so at the end of all this, their only choice was to quilt with the bent mat....but hey, its going great!
All the squares were cut out perfectly.

Why the name?

Well I'm glad you asked. See Sara suggested something with stitches. I thought sisters worked since we are all Sisters in Christ. However, for Webster's take on it...

Sisters In Stitches,
n. SIS'TERS in n. STI'CHS

1. A group of women of the same faith; a female fellow christian, who has made multiple passes of a needle in sewing. As in sisters hanging out in Sis. Tina's house, attempting to make a quilt.

2. These same women who have a local spasmodic pain; an acute lancing pain, like the piercing of a needle. As in sisters hanging out in Sis. Tina's house laughing so hard as to be in pain.

3. These same women who will need to stitch up, to mend or unite with a needle and thread; as, to stitch up a rent; to stitch up an artery. As Danielle will need stitches if Rachel continues to attack her with the rotary blade.

Quilting: Day One

Well everyone, you are in for a treat! You have the honors of watching Sara, Rachel, and Danielle create a quilt! (Yes i said quilt) They have been wanting to start quilting for a long time, and that time has come. I, Hannah am their official photographer and will post on here weekly with updates.(i am signed into rachel's account right now because she uploaded my pics for me)
Now, one thing you must know is that none of these pictures were rehearsed. That is, these were taken without them getting ready for them. (isn't that awesome or what!) ok well here we go. Quilting: day one. i am
(these were taken near the end of the day., I will be posting about the first few hours shortly.)

uuummm.....they also made shadow a tie.....

been quilting for a while now......about 2 1/2 hours. Sara decides to be a hippie, i think.

Rachel frequently tries to kill Danielle with the quilting scissor/cutting thing, this is her idea of spicing things up.

about 3 into quilting Rachel is still......um.........trying to kill Danielle, i really don't know what to say about Danielle's facial expression here.
LOL.
well,at the end of the day they were able to cut out their squares.
